Silver Price Hits $32, First Time Since 1980
SILVER PRICE NEWS – The silver price continued its climb on Friday, rising above $32 per ounce for the first time since 1980. In morning trading the silver price had risen by as much as $0.32, or 1.0%, to $32.11 per ounce.
This was the latest in a series of new 30-year highs for the price of silver, which has now surged $4.15, or 14.8%, in February alone. Year-to-date the silver price is now higher by $1.17, or 3.8%.
Silver stocks rallied alongside the silver price, with the Global X Silver Miners ETF (SIL) jumping $0.38, or 1.5%, to $25.29 per share. Notable advancers included Coeur d’Alene Mines (CDE), Hecla Mining (HL), and Silver Wheaton (SLW). CDE, HL, and SLW rose 2.1%, 2.0%, and 3.5%, respectively.
